La Cabina…
From time to time I remember watching a short film in one of Dr Alexander’s Spanish lessons, probably when I was in the 6th form. However, apart from being odd (and about a phone box), I couldn’t remember the title. For reasons that escape me, I never looked for the film online until last night. And what did I find…
“La Cabina”, 1972, directed by Antonio Mercero
It’s a Comedy / Horror / Short (35mins) in Spanish. But, there’s very little dialogue so it’s enjoyable to anyone.
However, “sadly, there is no DVD, Laser-Disc or VHS tape available”. So, to that end, I’ve downloaded it from eMule. This raises an interesting point. The film is over 30 years old, so it’s still probably under copyright (UK Patent Office says “The duration of copyright in a film is 70 years after the death…”). However, it’s not available. It hasn’t been released for consumer purchase, so downloading it isn’t diminishing anyone’s revenue. In fact, it’s doing the opposite by preventing the film disappearing. If it were possible to buy it, then I’m sure I would… though probably not from a VHS to DVD conversion as here on eBay.
Is that wrong?

Yes it is wrong. But to be honest, I’m sure you could call the people concerned and tell them what you have done and they would probably just grunt a “So what?”
